Here are some options to make sure you receive a first edition of Everyone Brave is Forgiven. If you do order the novel, my very sincere thanks – I hope you will love it.
Collector’s edition
A collector’s edition, a limited 250-copy signed special with quarterbound jacket, gold sprayed edges and ribbon marker, is available exclusively from the legendary Goldsboro Books, who will post anywhere in the world.
UK edition
The UK hardcover first edition is a thing of real beauty, with gilt highlights, crimson page edges and a cover image taken from Cecil Beaton’s 1941 “Fashion is Indestructible” photo shoot for Vogue. The endpapers are a montage of my grandparents’ wartime letters. Foyles have kindly supported the book from day one and you can order from them here.
You can also order from Amazon if you need that convenience. You can order from your local branch of Waterstones to get an exclusive Waterstones edition with an illustrated afterword from me about the letters people wrote in wartime. You can order from Hive to give a cut to indie bookstores, or you can pre order direct from your local independent bookseller to support excellence in your community.
USA & Canada editions
The wonderfully evocative US and Canadian first hardcover editions show a montage of wartime London, with Heinkel bombers over a blacked out Houses of Parliament and a certain streetlamp that is mentioned in the novel. The endpapers are a montage of my grandparents’ wartime letters, postcards and telegrams.
In the US you can order from Barnes & Noble, long term supporters who have kindly hosted me for countless book events right across America. You can also order from Amazon, or from Indie Bound to give a cut to your local independent, or from Hudson Booksellers to support a great American business that has championed my work from day one, or from my old friends at Powell’s to keep Portland weird, or from your local independent bookseller to invest in the work of stopping your neighbourhood slowly becoming like everywhere else.
If you are blessed to live in Canada you can order from Amazon Canada or your local indie. You can also get a useful discount and support a Canadian business that has
always supported Canadian publishing by pre ordering from Indigo.
Australia and NZ edition

The international first edition is a stunner. It’s adapted from this original WWII recruitment poster, and I like the way the novel’s title acquires the tone of an official government slogan.
In Australia you can order the first edition from Readings. You can also order from Amazon, from Dymocks, or from your local independent bookseller.
In New Zealand you are spoilt for choice of the excellent indies you can order from. In particular, Page & Blackmore in the South Island have always been incredibly good to me, and if you’re in the North Island, my favourite ever book event was at Matakana Village Books. Order from either of those stores and tell them I sent you, and they might even give you a discount – who knows?
